Obama as Hitler, Stalin, Castro

It must be incredibly frustrating for John McCain's campaign to continue seeing Barack Obama amass mammoth crowds in the closing days of the campaign.

It seemed everything they've thrown at Barack Obama, including the kitchen sink, failed to dim Obama's glitter.

And now from Fox News' abominable Sean Hannity and right wing radio shock jocks come warnings of a Hitler, Stalin and Fidel Castro-type government takeover in the inevitability of an Obama landslide.

I don't know if these people are simply consumed by desperation and paranoia or just plain stupid. Absurdly, they equate the huge crowds in Obama's rallies as forebodings of a grim socio-political upheaval similar in intensity to the one that led to the Holocaust.

Have they even bothered to observe the people who attend Obama's rallies?

During the primaries, one CNN reporter correctly summarized the mood of a Clinton rally compared to an Obama rally:

"In a Clinton rally, you come off thinking, 'geez, Hillary is so smart.' In an Obama rally, you step out thinking, 'geez, I'm so inspired and full of hope.'"

I'm pretty sure, anyone coming out of a McCain rally is thinking, "geez, Obama will kill us all."

If these ultraconservative commentators have even bothered to check their history, Hitler's and Stalin's rallies were filled with hate, vengeance and a sense that the only way for the world to change was if they forcefully asserted their will over others.

In the homestretch of this campaign, ultraconservatives are growing more deranged than ever. On the night news networks start broadcasting an Obama landslide, I'm pretty sure many of them will be crying foul and will call the election a fraud.

But, thankfully, I'm also sure nobody will be listening to them.
